Published

sameAs is a schema.org property that links a structured-data node to other pages that are about the same entity, such as a company’s LinkedIn page or a founder’s profile. It tells a system “this organization and that profile are one thing”, which helps it reconcile the entity across the web.

Rules we follow

  • Only pages about the same thing. A parent company’s profiles belong on the parent’s node, not the brand’s. Listing a page that is about something else teaches the system the wrong merge.
  • Only pages that exist and are maintained. An empty or abandoned profile adds noise.
  • Visible first. Google’s structured-data guidelines require markup to match page content, so a profile listed in sameAs should also be linked somewhere the reader can see it.

Where it goes

On the Organization node (company profiles) and the Person node (the founder’s profiles). The property takes one URL or an array of URLs.

"sameAs": ["https://www.linkedin.com/in/example/"]

Our structured data check lists every node on a page so you can see what is declared.
