Context
The property, and what the exports show
The property
SingleCrystalDiamondRing.com sells rings carved entirely from one lab-grown diamond crystal, with no metal band or setting. It is one of our own properties. The site is a static build with 498 URLs across nine languages: collection pages for individual rings, bespoke, craft, technology, story, education, FAQ and a consultation form.
What happened
The queries are the buyer’s own words for a category that has no name yet: “pure diamond ring no metal” (4 clicks, position 6.9), “full diamond ring no metal” (4, position 8.2), “solid diamond ring no metal” (3, position 8.4) and the brand’s own term “single crystal diamond ring” (4 clicks, position 2.6). The United States supplies 50 of 100 clicks; India, Canada and the United Kingdom follow. Impressions are mostly desktop, clicks mostly mobile.
Clarity recorded 294 sessions, 48% on Mobile Safari, with a 45% average scroll depth and no rage clicks.
Approach
Stages this engagement covered
Filled stages are the ones we worked on.
- 1Access
- 2Understand
- 3Trust
- 4Retrieve
- 5Cite
- 6Convert
Define the entity and the product category in plain language (story, craft, technology, FAQ), mark the business up as a JewelryStore with speakable sections, and publish nine language versions. Measure whether a category with no search volume gets picked up by AI features before it earns conventional traffic. Stages Access, Understand, Trust and Cite.
What we did
Changes, in order of impact
- Story, craft and technology pages explaining CVD and HPHT single-crystal growth and the carving process. The story page is the second page by Google clicks and by AI-feature impressions (202).
- JewelryStore, Organization, OfferCatalog and SpeakableSpecification structured data with a GeoCircle service area, plus GIA and HRD Antwerp certification statements in text.
- A FAQ page that ranks at position 6.1 for its queries and is the third page by AI-feature impressions.
- Nine language versions (498 URLs in the sitemap); the Korean version appears in Google's AI features on its own.
- robots.txt that lists search, AI and regional crawlers (Googlebot, Bingbot, DuckDuckBot, Applebot, YandexBot, Baiduspider, NaverBot, GPTBot) as allowed; llms.txt and ai.txt.

Open questions
What did not work, and what comes next
Not yet working, or not yet known
- Clicks fell from 28 in July to 11 in September while impressions held near 500 to 900. The export does not say which queries lost clicks.
- Bing AI citations are flat and single-page.
- GA4 cannot be used until the property is separated from the other sites sharing its measurement ID. Consultation requests are therefore not counted.
- A duplicate story URL (with and without a trailing slash) both receive impressions; the canonical should settle that.
What we would do next
- Give the domain its own GA4 property and a consultation key event.
- Fix the trailing-slash duplicate on the story page with a canonical.
- Write one page per buyer phrase ('ring with no metal', 'solid diamond ring') stating the category definition the AI features already quote from the home page.
