It reports impressions, not clicks. - [Generative engine optimization (GEO)](https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/generative-engine-optimization/): Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the practice of making content usable and citable by systems that generate answers rather than list links: clear claims, sources, visible dates and authors, and original data. - [Google-Extended](https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/google-extended/): Google-Extended is a robots.txt control token, not a crawler: it tells Google whether a site's content may be used to train Gemini models, without affecting Googlebot or appearance in Search. - [GPTBot](https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/gptbot/): GPTBot is OpenAI's web crawler for collecting content that may be used to train its models; it identifies itself in the user agent and honours robots.txt. - [Knowledge Graph](https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/knowledge-graph/): The Knowledge Graph is Google's database of entities and the relationships between them, which powers knowledge panels and helps Search and AI features understand what a page is about. - [llms.txt](https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/llms-txt/): llms.txt is a proposed plain-text file at a site's root that summarises the site and links its key pages in Markdown, intended for large language models rather than people. - [Mention rate](https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/mention-rate/): Mention rate is the share of sampled AI answers in which a company is named, whether or not a page is linked; it is measured on a fixed prompt set, per engine, with the spread across runs shown. - [OAI-SearchBot](https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/oai-searchbot/): OAI-SearchBot is the OpenAI crawler that builds the index used by ChatGPT search; blocking it in robots.txt removes a site from those results, while GPTBot controls training use. - [PerplexityBot](https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/perplexitybot/): PerplexityBot is the crawler that builds Perplexity's search index; Perplexity also documents Perplexity-User, which fetches a page when a user's question needs it and is not bound by robots.txt in the same way. - [Rendering (JavaScript SEO)](https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/rendering/): Rendering is the step in which a crawler executes a page's JavaScript to build the final content; Googlebot renders pages in a second pass, and the documented AI crawlers do not describe a rendering step. - [robots.txt](https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/robots-txt/): robots.txt is a plain-text file at a site's root that tells crawlers which paths they may or may not fetch, using User-agent, Allow and Disallow rules; it controls crawling, not indexing. - [sameAs](https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/sameas/): sameAs is a schema.org property that links a structured-data node to other pages that are about the same entity, such as a company's LinkedIn page or a founder's profile. - [Structured data (JSON-LD)](https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/structured-data/): Structured data is machine-readable markup, usually JSON-LD using the schema.org vocabulary, that states what a page is about so search engines and AI systems can read its facts without guessing. ## AI crawler reference - [All AI crawlers](https://aiseoexpert.co/ai-crawlers/): 16 agents: user agent, robots.txt rule and verification for each. - [Googlebot](https://aiseoexpert.co/ai-crawlers/googlebot/): Google, search engine. - [Bingbot](https://aiseoexpert.co/ai-crawlers/bingbot/): Microsoft, search engine. - [GPTBot](https://aiseoexpert.co/ai-crawlers/gptbot/): OpenAI, model training. - [OAI-SearchBot](https://aiseoexpert.co/ai-crawlers/oai-searchbot/): OpenAI, search index. - [ChatGPT-User](https://aiseoexpert.co/ai-crawlers/chatgpt-user/): OpenAI, user-triggered fetch. - [ClaudeBot](https://aiseoexpert.co/ai-crawlers/claudebot/): Anthropic, model training. - [Claude-SearchBot](https://aiseoexpert.co/ai-crawlers/claude-searchbot/): Anthropic, search index. - [Claude-User](https://aiseoexpert.co/ai-crawlers/claude-user/): Anthropic, user-triggered fetch. - [PerplexityBot](https://aiseoexpert.co/ai-crawlers/perplexitybot/): Perplexity, search index. - [Perplexity-User](https://aiseoexpert.co/ai-crawlers/perplexity-user/): Perplexity, user-triggered fetch. - [Google-Extended](https://aiseoexpert.co/ai-crawlers/google-extended/): Google, control token (no crawler). - [Applebot](https://aiseoexpert.co/ai-crawlers/applebot/): Apple, search index. - [Applebot-Extended](https://aiseoexpert.co/ai-crawlers/applebot-extended/): Apple, control token (no crawler). - [CCBot](https://aiseoexpert.co/ai-crawlers/ccbot/): Common Crawl, model training. - [Meta-ExternalAgent](https://aiseoexpert.co/ai-crawlers/meta-externalagent/): Meta, model training. - [Amazonbot](https://aiseoexpert.co/ai-crawlers/amazonbot/): Amazon, model training. ## Company - [About](https://aiseoexpert.co/about/): Rajesh Dalsaniya, founder. - [Contact](https://aiseoexpert.co/contact/): hello@aiseoexpert.co; It is for teams with an in-house marketer or SEO who can own delivery; we bring the judgement and the order of work, not a checklist. Problem: Most SEO programmes are a list of tactics with no model of where demand comes from, what the site can realistically win, or what to do first. Teams ship work, traffic stays flat, and nobody can say why. Approach: We build a search strategy from your market, your site's current position and the method's six stages, then turn it into a prioritised roadmap your team can run. Method stages: Access, Understand, Trust, Retrieve, Convert. ### Technical SEO Consulting URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/services/technical-seo/ Technical SEO consulting is the diagnosis and repair of everything that stops search engines and AI crawlers from reaching, rendering, indexing and understanding your pages: crawl access, JavaScript rendering, indexation, site architecture, migrations and Core Web Vitals. We work in that order because each stage depends on the one before it, and we deliver fixes as ticket-ready items your developers can ship. It also covers your robots and AI-crawler policy, with the trade-offs stated, and a rendering report that shows what each crawler can and cannot see. Problem: Pages that matter aren't indexed, render late, or compete with each other — and every later SEO or AI-search effort inherits the problem. Approach: We diagnose access and understanding first, then hand your developers a prioritised, ticket-ready backlog. Method stages: Access, Understand. ### SEO Content Strategy URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/services/content-strategy/ SEO content strategy is the plan for which topics your site covers, which page answers which question, and how each page is kept accurate over time. It covers topic architecture, a content audit with keep, merge, refresh and remove decisions, briefs that specify the question, the direct answer, the evidence and the sources, and a refresh calendar with triggers. It is written for three readers at once: the buyer doing research, Google's ranking systems, and the AI systems that retrieve and quote passages. Problem: Content gets published on a calendar rather than a map. Pages overlap, important questions go unanswered, and older articles quietly go stale while AI systems quote competitors. Approach: We map the topics your buyers research, audit what you have, and run a brief-and-refresh programme that keeps every page answer-first and sourced. Method stages: Understand, Trust, Retrieve. ### AI Search Optimization URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/services/ai-search-optimization/ AI search optimization is the work of making a company findable and accurately described in AI-generated answers: Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT search, Perplexity, Copilot and Gemini. It rests on the same foundations as SEO, because these systems retrieve from the web index, and adds three things: a check that AI crawlers can reach your pages, an entity layer so systems know who you are, and content written so a passage can be lifted and cited. We measure it by sampling prompts and recording mentions, citations and accuracy, with the run-to-run spread shown. Problem: Buyers ask assistants to summarise a category, compare vendors and recommend a shortlist. Your company is missing, described wrongly, or represented by a competitor's page — and no one on the team can see it happening. Approach: We baseline how assistants currently describe you, fix the access, entity and evidence causes, and measure the change with a published prompt-sampling method. Method stages: Access, Understand, Trust, Retrieve, Cite. ### Generative Engine Optimization URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/services/generative-engine-optimization/ Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the practice of making content usable and citable by systems that generate answers rather than list links. It differs from classic SEO in what it rewards: a direct answer near the top, specific claims with sources, visible dates and authors, and original data that no other page offers. It covers a citability audit of priority pages, rewrites that put the claim first, a plan for original elements, and monthly tracking of which sampled prompts cite your pages. Problem: Generated answers cite a handful of sources for each question. Ranking gets a page retrieved, but being quoted is a separate step, and the system needs a passage it can lift and defend. Pages that are vague, unsourced or buried in marketing language rarely offer one, however well they rank. Approach: We rework priority pages so each claim is clear, sourced and structured for retrieval, and we add the original elements that make a page worth citing. Method stages: Trust, Retrieve, Cite. ### Answer Engine Optimization URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/services/answer-engine-optimization/ Answer engine optimization (AEO) is the practice of researching the questions your buyers ask and building pages that answer each one first, specifically and with a source, so featured snippets, AI Overviews and AI assistants can lift a clear, correct answer. It differs from GEO in where it starts: AEO begins with the question map and page structure, GEO with the evidence and originality of the content. It covers question research, answer-first templates, rewrites of priority sections and a fact sheet that keeps prices, limits and features consistent across pages. Problem: Buyers ask specific questions — about pricing, integrations, compliance, comparisons — and the answers on your site are missing, scattered or wrapped in marketing copy that no engine can lift. Approach: We research the questions, design answer-first pages and sections, and check that engines actually return your answer. Method stages: Understand, Retrieve. ### Entity SEO & Knowledge Graph URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/services/entity-seo/ Entity SEO is the work of making your organization, founder and services unambiguous to search engines and AI systems: one name, one description and one set of facts, repeated identically on your site, on your profiles and in structured data. It covers an entity sheet that states the facts once, a consistency audit of profiles and directories with corrections, Organization and Person schema that matches the visible page, and monitoring of how assistants describe the company. The aim is that a system can tell you apart from similarly named companies and describe you correctly. Problem: Search engines and assistants confuse your company with another, describe it with outdated facts, or can't connect the brand, the founder, the products and the profiles into one entity. Approach: We define the entities, make every public source agree, and add structured data that matches the visible page so machines can resolve who you are. Method stages: Understand, Trust. ## The Crawl-to-Citation Method, stage by stage ### 1. Access: Can crawlers reach and render every key page? What we check: Crawl, render and index review; AI-crawler policy (OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended). What you get: Crawl report; Robots and bot policy; Rendering fixes. How it is measured: Indexed key pages; bot access in logs. What changes: Nothing valuable is invisible by accident. ### 2. Understand: Do machines know what each page and brand is? What we check: Entity definition; Page purpose and headings; Internal links; Structured data matching visible content. What you get: Entity sheet; Schema plan; Information-architecture fixes. How it is measured: Correct brand descriptions in sampled answers. What changes: Machines describe you correctly. ### 3. Trust: Is expertise visible and backed by evidence? What we check: Authorship; Sources; First-party evidence; Authoritative mentions. What you get: Author profiles; Evidence plan; Digital PR targets. How it is measured: Quality referring domains; branded mentions. What changes: Credibility with people and systems. ### 4. Retrieve: Can a passage be lifted as a clear answer? What we check: Answer-first passages; Claims with sources; Freshness. What you get: Page rewrites; Question map; Refresh calendar. How it is measured: Passage-level citations in sampled prompts. What changes: Your content is usable as an answer. ### 5. Cite: Are you mentioned and cited, accurately? What we check: Mentions, citations and accuracy across engines, disclosed method. What you get: Visibility baseline; Monthly report. How it is measured: Mention rate, citation rate, accuracy (sampled). What changes: A place on the AI-assisted shortlist. ### 6. Convert: Does visibility become qualified pipeline? What we check: Landing paths from cited pages; AI-referral analytics. What you get: CRO fixes; Attribution set-up. How it is measured: AI-referral sessions, leads, pipeline. What changes: Visibility becomes revenue. ## Engagements ### Search Visibility Diagnostic URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/diagnostic/ Price: $2,500 (fixed fee). A fixed-scope review of your SEO and AI-search visibility, with a prioritised plan. ### Implementation Sprint URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/contact/?engagement=sprint Price: $9,000 (from). Twelve weeks to fix the highest-impact issues with your team. ### Advisory URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/contact/?engagement=advisory Price: $2,000 (from, per month). Monthly senior guidance for in-house teams. ## How we measure AI visibility (the Lab) A fixed prompt set of 44 prompts in 4 groups (Category: 14, Comparison: 10, Problem: 12, Brand: 8), run 3 times each in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Gemini. Results report mention rate, citation rate and accuracy with the sampling method disclosed. The first report publishes after the site launches. The prompt set and change log are at https://aiseoexpert.co/lab/. ## Case studies (sourced, with limits stated) ### Bagasse Packaging UK: a B2B supplier site measured over ten months, including the AI-feature decline URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/case-studies/bagasse-packaging-uk/ A London importer of compostable sugarcane-fibre packaging launched a new domain into a category where UK restaurant buyers and EU distributors search for product types and certifications, and where most competitors are marketplaces. - Google clicks per month: 28 to 129 (Jan vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, web search) - Google impressions per month: 1,596 to 6,539 (Jan vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, web search) - Citations in Bing AI answers per month: 40 to 188 (May vs Sep 2026; source: Bing Webmaster Tools, AI Performance) - Impressions in Google AI features per month: 1,667 to 975 (Jun vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, Generative AI features filter) What we cannot attribute: The domain is new, so indexing growth explains part of the rise. The Generative AI features filter in Search Console only reports from 18 May 2026 and Bing's AI Performance report from 14 April 2026, so neither has a pre-launch baseline, and the June-to-September fall in Google AI-feature impressions coincides with Google's own changes to those surfaces, which we cannot separate from anything on the site. Impressions peaked in June and fell through September while clicks held, so the click gain is partly a click-through-rate gain rather than more exposure. October 2026 is partial (to 11 October). GA4 recorded no key events. ### BambooPaper.in: ten city pages and a comparison-led catalogue, measured from launch URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/case-studies/bamboopaper-in/ A subscription-first bamboo tissue brand launched into a category where buyers search for suppliers and manufacturers by city, not for brands, and where a paid campaign was running in parallel from the start. - Google clicks per month: 21 to 127 (Jun vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, web search) - Google impressions per month: 639 to 4,681 (Jun vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, web search) - Impressions in Google AI features per month: 57 to 774 (Jun vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, Generative AI features filter) - Citations in Bing AI answers per month: 27 to 531 (Jul vs Sep 2026; source: Bing Webmaster Tools, AI Performance) What we cannot attribute: A Google Ads campaign ran during the whole window (715 of 1,107 GA4 users arrived from google / cpc). Search Console reports organic results only, but paid exposure can raise brand searches, so the organic rise is not independent of the campaign. The domain is new, so part of the growth is ordinary indexing. Search Console's Generative AI features filter only reports from 18 May 2026 and Bing's AI Performance data starts with the site. October 2026 is partial (to 11 October) and excluded. GA4 shows two key events in the whole window, too few to report. ### CastingForgingSource: a thousand Bing AI citations for a B2B export site with modest Google traffic URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/case-studies/castingforgingsource-com/ A merchant exporter of castings and forgings launched a new domain to reach OEM buyers in the United States and Europe, a market where the buyer's first search is a specification question and Google's results are filled with directories. - Citations in Bing AI answers per month: 50 to 325 (Apr vs Sep 2026; source: Bing Webmaster Tools, AI Performance) - Google impressions per month: 465 to 1,782 (Jan vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, web search) - Google clicks per month: 7 to 22 (Jan vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, web search) - Impressions in Google AI features per month: 240 to 279 (Jun vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, Generative AI features filter) What we cannot attribute: The domain is new and the absolute numbers are small: 140 Google clicks in ten months, so a handful of clicks moves any ratio. Bing's AI Performance report starts on 14 April 2026 and Search Console's Generative AI features filter on 18 May 2026, so there is no pre-launch baseline for either. The average Google position worsened from 14.3 in January to 22.7 in September as the site picked up long-tail impressions, which is a sign of breadth, not of lost rankings, but we cannot prove that from the aggregate export. October 2026 is partial. GA4 recorded no key events. ### FirebricksSource: when Bing sends more buyers than Google, five months after launch URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/case-studies/firebrickssource-com/ A refractory bricks exporter launched a specification-heavy catalogue into a market where buyers search by grade, standard and application, and where the site's Google positions started in the 40s and 50s. - Google impressions per month: 141 to 838 (Jun vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, web search) - Bing clicks per month: 0 to 21 (Jun vs Sep 2026; source: Bing Webmaster Tools, search performance) - Citations in Bing AI answers per month: 30 to 123 (Jul vs Sep 2026; source: Bing Webmaster Tools, AI Performance) - Impressions in Google AI features per month: 11 to 151 (Jul vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, Generative AI features filter) What we cannot attribute: The absolute numbers are the smallest of the eight properties: 23 Google clicks and 48 Bing clicks in five months, so no ratio here is stable. The domain is new, Search Console's Generative AI features filter reports from 18 May 2026 and Bing's AI Performance report starts with the site, so there is no pre-launch baseline. Clarity counted 248 sessions and a further 138 bot sessions, and GA4's top cities (Singapore, Ashburn, Council Bluffs, Boardman) are data-centre locations, so a large share of recorded traffic is automated. October 2026 is partial. GA4 recorded no key events. ### OnlinePhotoPrinting NZ: a thousand pages, a click-through rate that tripled, and impressions that fell URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/case-studies/onlinephotoprinting-co-nz/ A print-on-demand store launched into New Zealand with a catalogue of products and hundreds of town-level service pages, and had to find out which of those pages Google would show, click and keep. - Google click-through rate: 0.51% to 1.82% (Jul vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, web search) - Google clicks per month: 98 to 138 (Jul vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, web search) - Google impressions per month: 19,366 to 7,584 (Jul vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, web search) - Impressions in Google AI features per month: 280 to 311 (Jul vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, Generative AI features filter) What we cannot attribute: The domain is new and the comparison covers three months. Impressions fell by 61% from July to September while clicks rose; we read that as Google narrowing which of the thousand pages it shows, but the aggregate export cannot prove it page by page. Search Console's Generative AI features filter only reports from 18 May 2026 and Bing's AI Performance data starts with the site. Clarity recorded 2,488 sessions and separately counted 8,374 bot sessions, so behavioural figures are treated with caution. October 2026 is partial. GA4 recorded no key events, so orders are not counted here. ### ShopifyWebDeveloper.co.uk: 51,000 impressions, 78 clicks. A visibility-without-traffic study URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/case-studies/shopifywebdeveloper-co-uk/ A UK Shopify development studio launched a new domain targeting the most competitive agency queries in the country: 'shopify developer', 'shopify developer uk', 'shopify developer london'. The site is shown for them, at positions 30 to 90, and almost nobody clicks. - Google impressions per month: 9,576 to 7,865 (Jun vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, web search) - Google clicks per month: 6 to 20 (Jun vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, web search) - Google average position: 54.3 to 58.6 (Jun vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, web search (impression-weighted)) - Citations in Bing AI answers per month: 108 to 56 (Jul vs Sep 2026; source: Bing Webmaster Tools, AI Performance) What we cannot attribute: This study reports a site that has not yet worked in Google, and the numbers are small enough that a few clicks change every rate. The domain is new. Search Console's Generative AI features filter reports from 18 May 2026 and Bing's AI Performance data starts with the site, so there is no baseline for either. A quarter of the 78 clicks are from job seekers, not buyers. Google's agency-query results are filled with directories and Shopify's own partner listings, which the site cannot change. October 2026 is partial. GA4 recorded no key events. ### Single Crystal Diamond Ring: a one-product luxury brand with the highest AI-feature share of the eight URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/case-studies/singlecrystaldiamondring-com/ A brand selling rings carved from a single lab-grown diamond crystal, with no metal, launched into a market where the product category did not exist in search and buyers describe it in their own words: 'pure diamond ring no metal', 'solid diamond ring'. - Google clicks per month: 5 to 11 (Jan vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, web search) - Google impressions per month: 197 to 513 (Jan vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, web search) - Impressions in Google AI features per month: 84 to 100 (Jun vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, Generative AI features filter) - Citations in Bing AI answers per month: 13 to 8 (May vs Sep 2026; source: Bing Webmaster Tools, AI Performance) What we cannot attribute: The absolute numbers are small (100 Google clicks in ten months) and the category has little search volume, so monthly figures swing on a handful of queries. The GA4 property for this domain also receives data from unrelated websites (its page-title report lists spice-export and web-development pages), so GA4 is excluded from this study entirely. Search Console's Generative AI features filter reports from 18 May 2026 and Bing's AI Performance report from 14 April 2026; neither has a pre-launch baseline. October 2026 is partial. Conversions are not reported. ### WoodCharcoal.in: from launch to 206 Google clicks a month in five months URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/case-studies/woodcharcoal-in/ A new domain selling wood, bamboo and coconut-shell charcoal to Indian buyers had no search history, a crowded commodity category and buyers who ask comparison questions before they ask for a price. - Google clicks per month: 67 to 206 (Jun vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, web search) - Google impressions per month: 3,561 to 13,802 (Jun vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, web search) - Impressions in Google AI features per month: 441 to 2,021 (Jun vs Sep 2026; source: Search Console, Generative AI features filter) - Citations in Bing AI answers per month: 51 to 127 (Jun vs Sep 2026; source: Bing Webmaster Tools, AI Performance) What we cannot attribute: This is a new domain, so part of every month-on-month rise is ordinary indexing growth that any crawlable site would see; there is no control group. Search Console's Generative AI features filter only reports from 18 May 2026 and Bing's AI Performance report from April 2026, so neither can show a pre-launch baseline. October 2026 is a partial month (to 11 October) and is excluded from the comparisons. GA4 direct sessions include the team's own visits during build and testing and are not counted as a result. ## Glossary AI Mode: AI Mode is Google's conversational search experience: a full-page generated answer that can run several searches behind one question and cites web pages as sources. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/ai-mode/) AI Overviews: AI Overviews are the AI-generated summaries Google shows at the top of some search results, with links to the pages the summary draws on. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/ai-overviews/) AI search optimization: AI search optimization is the work of making a company findable and accurately described in AI-generated answers, from Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode to ChatGPT search, Perplexity, Copilot and Gemini. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/ai-search-optimization/) Answer engine optimization (AEO): Answer engine optimization (AEO) is the practice of researching the questions buyers ask and building pages that answer each one first, specifically and with a source, so featured snippets, AI Overviews and assistants can lift a clear, correct answer. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/answer-engine-optimization/) Answer-first passage: An answer-first passage is a self-contained block of text that states the answer to a question in its first sentence, then the specifics and the source, so a search engine or assistant can quote it on its own. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/answer-first-passage/) Canonical URL: A canonical URL is the single address a site declares as the authoritative version of a page when the same content is reachable at several URLs, usually with a rel=canonical link element. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/canonical-url/) Citation rate: Citation rate is the share of sampled AI answers in which a site is linked as a source, measured on a fixed prompt set, per engine, over several runs, and reported with its spread. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/citation-rate/) ClaudeBot: ClaudeBot is Anthropic's crawler for collecting web content that may be used to train Claude models; Anthropic documents separate agents, Claude-SearchBot and Claude-User, for search and user fetches. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/claudebot/) Content Signals: Content Signals is a draft convention for stating in robots.txt how a site's content may be used, with three signals: search, ai-input (use in generated answers) and ai-train (model training). (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/content-signals/) Core Web Vitals: Core Web Vitals are three user-experience metrics Google reports for real page loads: Largest Contentful Paint (loading), Interaction to Next Paint (responsiveness) and Cumulative Layout Shift (visual stability). (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/core-web-vitals/) Crawl budget: Crawl budget is the number of URLs a search engine's crawler is willing and able to fetch from a site in a period, set by the site's server capacity and the crawler's demand for its pages. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/crawl-budget/) Crawl-to-Citation Method: The Crawl-to-Citation Method is AISEOExpert.co's six-stage framework for SEO and AI search, Access, Understand, Trust, Retrieve, Cite and Convert, each with a deliverable and a measure. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/crawl-to-citation-method/) Entity: An entity is a thing that search engines and AI systems can identify unambiguously, such as a company, a person, a product or a place, independent of the words used to name it. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/entity/) Entity SEO: Entity SEO is the work of making an organization, its founder and its services unambiguous to search engines and AI systems: one name, one description and one set of facts, repeated identically on the site, on profiles and in structured data. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/entity-seo/) Generative AI performance report (Search Console): The Generative AI performance report in Google Search Console counts how many times links to a site were shown in AI Overviews and AI Mode, by page, country, device and date. It reports impressions, not clicks. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/generative-ai-features-filter/) Generative engine optimization (GEO): Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the practice of making content usable and citable by systems that generate answers rather than list links: clear claims, sources, visible dates and authors, and original data. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/generative-engine-optimization/) Google-Extended: Google-Extended is a robots.txt control token, not a crawler: it tells Google whether a site's content may be used to train Gemini models, without affecting Googlebot or appearance in Search. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/google-extended/) GPTBot: GPTBot is OpenAI's web crawler for collecting content that may be used to train its models; it identifies itself in the user agent and honours robots.txt. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/gptbot/) Knowledge Graph: The Knowledge Graph is Google's database of entities and the relationships between them, which powers knowledge panels and helps Search and AI features understand what a page is about. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/knowledge-graph/) llms.txt: llms.txt is a proposed plain-text file at a site's root that summarises the site and links its key pages in Markdown, intended for large language models rather than people. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/llms-txt/) Mention rate: Mention rate is the share of sampled AI answers in which a company is named, whether or not a page is linked; it is measured on a fixed prompt set, per engine, with the spread across runs shown. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/mention-rate/) OAI-SearchBot: OAI-SearchBot is the OpenAI crawler that builds the index used by ChatGPT search; blocking it in robots.txt removes a site from those results, while GPTBot controls training use. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/oai-searchbot/) PerplexityBot: PerplexityBot is the crawler that builds Perplexity's search index; Perplexity also documents Perplexity-User, which fetches a page when a user's question needs it and is not bound by robots.txt in the same way. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/perplexitybot/) Rendering (JavaScript SEO): Rendering is the step in which a crawler executes a page's JavaScript to build the final content; Googlebot renders pages in a second pass, and the documented AI crawlers do not describe a rendering step. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/rendering/) robots.txt: robots.txt is a plain-text file at a site's root that tells crawlers which paths they may or may not fetch, using User-agent, Allow and Disallow rules; it controls crawling, not indexing. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/robots-txt/) sameAs: sameAs is a schema.org property that links a structured-data node to other pages that are about the same entity, such as a company's LinkedIn page or a founder's profile. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/sameas/) Structured data (JSON-LD): Structured data is machine-readable markup, usually JSON-LD using the schema.org vocabulary, that states what a page is about so search engines and AI systems can read its facts without guessing. (https://aiseoexpert.co/glossary/structured-data/) ## Frequently asked questions Q: What's the difference between SEO, AEO and GEO? A: SEO earns visibility in search results. AEO structures content so engines can lift a direct answer. GEO aims to have generative AI systems use and cite your content. They share most of their foundations; our method covers all three. Q: Can you guarantee we'll appear in ChatGPT or AI Overviews? A: No. No one controls these systems. We improve the conditions that make inclusion more likely and measure the change honestly. Q: How do you measure AI visibility? A: With a fixed prompt set run on a schedule across named engines, recording mentions, citations and accuracy. The full method is published in the Lab. Q: Do we need llms.txt or special markup for AI? A: Google states that AI Overviews and AI Mode need no special files or markup. We treat llms.txt as an optional experiment, not a fix. Q: Who do you work with? A: Mainly B2B, e-commerce and SaaS companies with an existing organic channel. Q: How does an engagement start? A: Usually with the Search Visibility Diagnostic, which gives you a prioritised plan you can implement with us or on your own. ## Free tools in detail ### Indexability inspector URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/indexability-inspector/ Status code, redirect chain, robots.txt rules and index directives for one URL, so you can see whether a page can be crawled and indexed. Checks: HTTP status and each redirect hop to the final URL; robots.txt verdict for Googlebot and Bingbot, with the matched rule; meta robots and X-Robots-Tag directives; Canonical: self, another URL or absent; Conflicting signals, such as noindex with a canonical to another page. What it does not tell you: Whether Google has indexed the page or how it ranks; Search Console is the only source for that. ### XML sitemap inspector URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/sitemap-inspector/ Reads an XML sitemap or sitemap index and checks each URL status, the lastmod dates and whether the sitemap is listed in robots.txt. Checks: Sitemap found via robots.txt or the default paths, read and parsed (status, type, size); URL count against the 50,000-per-file limit, duplicates and relative URLs; http:// entries, URLs on another host and mixed trailing slashes; lastmod format, future dates and identical values; changefreq and priority noted; Sitemap index children (first 5) and whether robots.txt lists the sitemap; Optional: HTTP status of 10 sampled URLs. What it does not tell you: Whether Google has processed the sitemap or indexed its URLs; the sitemap report in Search Console is the only source for that. ### Title and description preview URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/title-description-preview/ Preview a page title and meta description as they would appear at desktop and mobile widths, to check length and wording before you publish. Checks: Pixel width against the usual desktop and mobile cut-off; Character counts for title and description; Missing, empty or duplicated brand name; A live preview of how the snippet may wrap. What it does not tell you: What Google will actually show; it rewrites titles and descriptions for many queries. ### Social preview URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/social-preview/ Reads the Open Graph and X card tags for one page, draws them in two plain card shapes and checks that the preview image loads. Checks: The four properties ogp.me lists as required: og:title, og:type, og:image, og:url; og:image is a full URL, has alt text and declared dimensions, and answers with an image content type; twitter:card present, and which card shape it names; og:title against , og:description against the meta description, og:url against the canonical; og:locale, repeated og:image tags, and a corrected tag snippet to copy. What it does not tell you: How any platform will actually draw the link: each one fetches and caches the page itself and has its own debugger. Nothing here is about search ranking. ### Heading outline check URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/heading-outline/ The H1 to H6 tree of a page, with skipped levels, empty headings and the length of each section, to check the structure before you publish. Checks: Heading tree in document order; Skipped levels, multiple H1s and empty headings; Word count per section; Whether each H2 section opens with a direct sentence that repeats the heading terms. What it does not tell you: Whether the content is good or whether the page will be used as an answer; it only reads structure. ### Page links and anchors audit URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/page-links-audit/ Every link on one page: internal and external counts, rel values, empty and generic anchors, and an optional status check. Checks: Internal, external and unique link targets, with rel="nofollow", "sponsored" and "ugc" counts; Anchors with no text, image alt or label, and generic anchors such as "click here"; Links that are not crawlable: empty or "#" hrefs, javascript: hrefs, anchors without href; http:// links on an https page, links to the page itself, duplicate anchors and targets; Optional HTTP status of up to 15 unique targets, with a CSV export of the whole table. What it does not tell you: How much authority a link passes or how a page ranks. It reads one page, so it cannot find orphan pages or site-wide link patterns. ### Structured data check URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/structured-data-check/ Lists every JSON-LD block on a page by type and id and flags placeholder-looking values, so you can check structured data before engines read it. Checks: All JSON-LD blocks parsed, with syntax errors reported; Nodes listed by @type and @id, duplicates flagged; Organization, Person, Service and Article fields present or missing; sameAs URL format and placeholder-looking values; Prompts to compare schema values with the visible text (name against H1, price against the page). What it does not tell you: Whether the markup is eligible for rich results; use the Rich Results Test and the Schema.org validator for that. ### Redirect chain checker URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/redirect-chain-checker/ Checks up to 50 URLs or old-to-new pairs for hop count, each status code, loops and mismatched targets, for migrations and link clean-ups. Checks: Hop count and the status of each hop; Loops and chains longer than one hop; Mixed HTTP and HTTPS hops; Final target compared with the expected new URL; CSV export of the results. What it does not tell you: Whether Google has transferred signals to the new URL; that shows up in Search Console over weeks, not in a fetch. ### Core Web Vitals check URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/core-web-vitals/ Field and lab Core Web Vitals for one page from Google's PageSpeed Insights API, each metric against Google's published thresholds. Checks: LCP, INP and CLS from Chrome users at the 75th percentile, mobile or desktop; Share of page loads that were good, needs improvement and poor for each metric; Origin-level field data when the URL itself has too little Chrome traffic; Lab metrics from a single Lighthouse run by Google, labelled as such; One click to run the other form factor, and a link to the full report. What it does not tell you: Why a metric is slow (that needs a performance trace) or what will happen to rankings; Google says good Core Web Vitals, along with other page experience aspects, align with what its ranking systems reward, and publishes no weight. ### AI crawler access checker URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/ai-crawler-access/ robots.txt verdicts for 16 AI and search agents, then a live fetch as each one to find blocks robots.txt hides. Checks: robots.txt verdict per agent, with the matched rule; The documented purpose of each agent: training, search index, user-triggered fetch or control token; A live fetch of the homepage as each agent to show firewall or 403 blocks; Which agents have no user agent to fetch with (control tokens). What it does not tell you: Whether any assistant will cite you. Access is necessary, not sufficient: allowing a crawler does not mean you will be quoted. ### No-JS content check URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/no-js-content-check/ What a page contains before any script runs: the server HTML fetched as GPTBot and as Googlebot, read without executing JavaScript, and compared. Checks: Status and final URL when the page is fetched as GPTBot; Visible words, headings, title, meta description and canonical present in the server HTML; Empty application-shell signals: a root container with no text, framework state blobs, a noscript notice, a meta refresh; Script bytes against text bytes, and how many JSON-LD blocks are server-side; Differences between the GPTBot and Googlebot responses: status, words, title, final URL. What it does not tell you: Whether the content will be used or cited, and nothing about what a rendering crawler sees after scripts run: use your browser for that. ### llms.txt generator and validator URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/llms-txt/ Build an llms.txt from a sitemap or a list of URLs, or validate one you already publish. Labelled an experiment. Checks: Site name, one-line summary and grouped links with descriptions from each page; Format of an existing file against the llms.txt proposal; Status of every linked URL and the file size. What it does not tell you: Whether any system reads the file. Google states that Search ignores it; we publish ours and log what happens in the Lab. ### AI content signals inspector URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/ai-content-signals/ Every machine-readable usage signal a site publishes for AI systems: present, absent or conflicting, with who documents honouring it. Checks: robots.txt Content-Signal lines (search, ai-input, ai-train) per user-agent group; Snippet controls in meta robots and X-Robots-Tag: nosnippet, max-snippet, max-image-preview, noarchive, noimageindex; data-nosnippet sections and the words inside them; noai and noimageai values, and whether any vendor documents them; TDM Reservation Protocol: the rules in /.well-known/tdmrep.json and which one applies to the page; ai.txt at the site root, and conflicts between signals and robots.txt blocks. What it does not tell you: Whether any vendor honoured a signal. A signal is a published preference; only your server logs show who fetched what afterwards. ### Citability check URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/citability-check/ A per-section checklist of answer-first passages on one page, with the exact passage quoted rather than a score, to show what a system could lift. Checks: The opening sentence of each H2 and H3 section answers the heading; A definition is present when the heading asks "what is"; Numbers carry units and a nearby source link; Author, published and updated dates are visible; FAQ answers are real text, not only markup. What it does not tell you: Whether a generated answer will quote the passage. The checklist is our Retrieve-stage method, not a model of any engine. ### Entity consistency checker URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/entity-consistency/ Compares the Organization and Person schema on a page with the visible about and footer text, line by line, to catch entity facts that disagree. Checks: name, legalName, url, logo, founder and sameAs on the home and about pages; Schema values compared with the visible footer and about text; Missing logo, missing founder, mismatched names; sameAs URLs that do not resolve. What it does not tell you: How an assistant describes you today; this checks your own signals, not any model’s output. ### AI referral segment builder URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/ai-referral-segment/ The referrer filter and step-by-step set-up for a segment that reports AI assistant traffic in Plausible, GA4 or Matomo. Checks: A referrer regex or filter for the known AI assistant domains; Step-by-step set-up for the analytics tool you choose; Copy-to-clipboard output; A note on what AI referral traffic can and cannot show. What it does not tell you: How often you are mentioned or cited; referrals only count the visits that follow a link in an answer. ### AI bot log analyser URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/ai-bot-log-analyser/ Which AI crawlers hit your server, how often, with which status codes and on which paths, from a log you paste. Runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded. Checks: Requests classified by the user agent tokens of the agents in our verified list, plus other known bot tokens; Hits, status-code mix (2xx to 5xx) and first and last seen per agent; Top 20 paths per agent; Agents that are mostly blocked or erroring (4xx and 5xx); robots.txt lines for the agents you choose to stop. What it does not tell you: Who those requests really were, since user agent strings can be forged, or what the bots did with the content afterwards. ### Author and freshness signals check URL: https://aiseoexpert.co/tools/author-freshness-signals/ Who an article says wrote it and when, read from the byline, the dates on the page, the schema and the response headers, with every disagreement listed. Checks: Visible byline, and whether it names the same person as the schema author; author on Article, BlogPosting or NewsArticle schema: type, name, url or sameAs, and one fetch of the author page; Visible published and updated dates against datePublished and dateModified; Open Graph article:published_time and article:modified_time, and the Last-Modified header; Days since the last declared change, and the copyright year in the footer; A JSON-LD author and date snippet to copy, filled from what the page shows. What it does not tell you: Whether the author is real or expert, or whether any search engine or AI assistant trusts the page. It reports what the page declares and whether the declarations agree. ## Policies Tool results are checks against documented specifications, never guarantees or ranking scores. Case studies state the baseline, the time window, what was changed and what cannot be attributed to the work. Analytics (Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity) load only after consent.
